When I hired EZEfix & Renovations for my kitchen project, they were the fifth contractor I received a quote from. Not only did they offer the most competitive pricing, but the quality of their work exceeded my expectations.
EZEfix & Renovations remodeled both my kitchen and my bathroom in Trumbull — full gut jobs, taken down to the studs. I was nervous about taking on such a big project, but Ezequiel and his father Camilo made the whole thing easy. They were patient with every question, kept my home clean while they worked, and treated me and my house with respect. Both rooms came out beautiful and I couldn't be happier.
Ezequiel was the best at helping through the entire process of my basement remodel in Weston, CT. from planning and budgeting through execution to my satisfaction, the price was ideal for the quality of work that i received I would certainly recommend working with them.
A floor is only as good as what is under it. EZEfix & Renovations installs hardwood, luxury vinyl plank and tile across Fairfield and New Haven Counties, Connecticut, and sets backsplashes and wall tile in kitchens and bathrooms. Every job starts with the subfloor or the wall, because that is where a floor that squeaks, gaps or cracks gets decided. We are still adding photos from recent flooring projects; browse the gallery in the meantime to see the finish and detail we bring to every job.
What a flooring or tile job can include
12 services, starting with what is under the floor.
Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) Flooring
The subfloor is cleaned, checked for flatness and skim-leveled where it dips before any plank goes down, with a moisture-rated underlayment wherever the plank is not pre-padded. The first rows are dry-fit to a straight line so plank widths balance at both walls, door casings are undercut, and expansion gaps are held at every edge. It stands up to water and traffic, which makes it the right floor for basements, kitchens and busy rooms. See Basement Finishing
Hardwood Flooring Installation
Pre-finished hardwood nailed down over a subfloor we check for flatness, fastening and movement first. The wood acclimates in your house before it is installed, rows are racked ahead so grain and color vary naturally across the room, and expansion gaps are held at the walls. With a factory finish there is no sanding, staining or cure time: you walk on it the day we finish.
Hardwood Floor & Stair Refinishing
Worn or dated hardwood sanded back to bare wood, stained to a sample you approve on your own floor, and sealed in finish coats, with the dust contained at the doorways. Stair treads and risers are sanded by hand and matched to the floor beside them. Refinishing is done by a dedicated floor finisher and coordinated by us, including the scheduling, the protection and the final inspection.
Tile Floor Installation
Porcelain and ceramic floor tile set over cement board with treated seams, never straight onto a subfloor that flexes. The layout is snapped from center lines and dry-laid so the cuts fall evenly at the walls, each tile is set in full mortar coverage and leveled against its neighbors, and flexible joints are left at the edges so the floor can move without cracking.
Herringbone & Patterned Tile Floors
Herringbone, chevron, diagonal and basketweave layouts set from a dry-laid working line rather than off a wall, because each tile lines up with the one before it and a small error grows across the room. A pattern takes several times the cuts of a straight lay and more tile: plan on 20 to 25 percent extra instead of 10, and we tell you that before you buy.
Tile Backsplash Installation
Backsplash tile laid out from the countertop and cabinet lines rather than the ceiling, so the rows read level against what they sit beside. The wall is checked for flatness first, outlets and switches are cut around cleanly with their boxes brought forward flush to the tile, and the edges finish in trim or a returned cut. Straight, stacked, herringbone and mosaic layouts. See Kitchen Remodel
Wall Tile Installation
Full-height tile walls, wainscot and accent bands set plumb on a wall we flatten first, because a wall that is out of plane shows in every joint. Full tiles land on the most visible line and the cuts on the least visible edge, tall runs are supported while the mortar sets, and corners are trimmed or mitered. Tile showers are part of a bathroom remodel. See Bathroom Remodel
Tile Reglazing
Where the tile is sound but the color is dated, reglazing refinishes it in place: the surface is cleaned, etched and primed, then sprayed with a two-part coating while the room is masked and ventilated. There is no demolition and far less downtime than a tear-out. Reglazing is done by a specialty refinishing contractor and coordinated by us.
Subfloor Repair & Leveling
Soft, squeaky or uneven floors opened up and fixed before the new floor hides them. Damaged plywood is cut back to the joists and replaced, unsupported panel edges get blocking, joists that move are sistered, high spots are ground down and low spots filled with leveling compound. The room is checked for flatness again before any finish flooring goes in.
Old Flooring Removal & Haul-Away
Carpet, vinyl, tile and worn hardwood taken up down to the subfloor, with dust barriers at the doorways and floor protection through the rooms we carry it out of. Staples, tack strip and old adhesive are cleared so the new floor sits flat, and everything we remove leaves in our trucks.
Baseboard, Shoe Molding & Transitions
The finishing pieces that make a new floor look built in. Baseboard is fastened into the framing with coped inside corners that stay tight through the seasons, shoe molding or quarter round covers the expansion gap without pinning the floor down, and transition strips are fitted at the doorways where one floor meets another.
Carpet Removal & Installation
The old carpet and cushion come up first. The new carpet goes in last, after paint and trim, over new cushion on a swept subfloor. It is seamed and power-stretched in both directions rather than kicked into place, which is what the manufacturers' warranties call for and what keeps it from rippling a few seasons later. Carpet is installed by a specialty flooring partner and coordinated by us.

Flooring and tile questions, answered
Which floor, what goes under it, and how soon you can use the room.
Hardwood, vinyl plank or tile: which floor is right for my room?
It depends on water and wear. Tile is the best choice where water is constant, like bathrooms and entries. Luxury vinyl plank handles moisture too and is the right floor for a basement, where hardwood and laminate do not belong. Hardwood is the warmest underfoot and can be refinished years later, which suits living rooms, bedrooms and halls. We look at the room and the subfloor during the walkthrough and tell you what will last.
Can the new floor go over my existing floor?
Sometimes. It depends on how flat and solid the old floor is and on the height it adds at doors, stairs and appliances. Vinyl plank can often go over a sound, flat surface. Tile needs cement board over a stiff subfloor, so the old floor usually has to come up. We check during the walkthrough, and if removal is needed it shows as its own line on the quote.
Should I refinish my hardwood floors or replace them?
Refinish when the boards are solid and the wear is in the finish: scratches, dull traffic paths, or a color you no longer like. Replace when boards are cupped, loose or water-damaged, or when the wood has been sanded so many times it cannot take another pass. We look at the floor before you decide, and the stain sample goes on your own floor first.
How soon can we walk on the new floor?
Pre-finished hardwood and vinyl plank can be walked on the day we finish. Tile needs time for the mortar and grout to cure, usually a day or two before normal use. Refinished hardwood needs each coat to dry, and a few more days before furniture and rugs go back. We give you the timing for your floor before we start.
What about the dust and the mess?
Every quote includes our clean and protected job site guarantee. Doorways are sealed with plastic, the floors along our path are covered, and the work area is cleaned at the end of each day. The old flooring and all debris leave with us, and we walk the finished floor with you before we call it done.
